Innovative Combat Solutions (ICS) was founded by Brian Scot Braham in 2017. ICS is an organization that teaches individuals how to effectively neutralize an attack in real world situations.

ICS also emphasizes the importance of avoiding a physical confrontation, and only utilizing your learned set of fighting skills when an imminent threat presents itself.  Situational awareness and other skills are learned through ICS to become part of your arsenal, and will hopefully supply you with the skills necessary to avoid physical altercations, and/or defend yourself should an altercation be unavoidable. We learn how to fight, not to find an excuse to exercise those abilities in the real world, but to have them if/when the need arises. Most of us will never have to fight for our life, but becoming competent in the art of fighting is something everyone should view as a priority. Would you rather have the ability to defend should you be faced with a deadly threat, or gamble on never needing combat skills only to one day be surprised by an attacker intent on taking your life, or the life of a loved one? Hopefully you would prefer acquiring the skills even if it’s unlikely you will ever need to use them.

There’s nothing fancy about ICS, and it’s not a set style bent on maintaining tradition.  It’s an ever-evolving idea that looks to expand and improve with time. Combined, ICS founder, Brian Braham, has been involved in martial arts, competitive fighting, and private security for over 38 years, and will openly admit he has much to learn. This should be everybody’s attitude, as we are all students who can learn from someone with more experience in a particular area. Even if you’re an expert in a specific field, you can always learn from a person who has more knowledge or more experience than you. I’ve never met a single individual who knows everything, and I never will—it’s not possible. If you ever meet someone who claims to know it all, it’s probably best to walk away and maintain your distance from individuals with this mindset, because it’s delusional and pure poison. Remaining humble, regardless of who you are, is key.

Fancy and pretty techniques are saved for those who want a lot of views for their social-media videos or have a desire to be in action movies. Brutal, adaptable and retainable are words that best describe ICS. Through experience, Mr. Braham has found that the most simple and aggressive techniques work best. You will not catch Mr. Braham bad-mouthing another style of martial arts, because he believes there is good in most systems, and real world combatives are not for everyone. Some people want to learn aerial acrobatics, etc. and that’s OK—whatever floats their boat. ICS looks to prepare its students to face real-world dangers, including multiple attackers and weapons.
